(More customer reviews)Made from faux metal otherwise known as chrome plated plastic this ingenious fixture seems to be lacking durability. Considering the item's price and the unique design Kohler should have constructed this of real metal. Ours was found to be cracked before it even arrived at our door. Kohler does make another version from brushed nickel, which may validate the extra expense.
One important point to consider when purchasing hand held shower fixtures is wether they are made from plastic, or metal. A study done in 2009 by the University of Colorado found that harmful bacteria are more likely to be harboring within plastic fixtures and less prevalent within metal fixtures. You may not contract any immediate illness if you have a strong immune system, but the less harmful wee beasties the better.
