The softest part is about a 1/4 inch on the lip but you need to stretch more then that for it to actually fit the square faucet. Do not waste ur money because its not worth returning, you have to pay restocking fee??..lol geeze how hard is it to restock a lil package.

A Grohe shower hose I bought from Amazon a couple all years back is ***all*** chrome-plated metal. This Shower Arm Mount is advertized as chrome. The section attached to the water pipe on the wall is chrome-plated metal. But the part holding the shower head and hose is plastic made to look like chrome. I paid for chrome-plated metal.

(More customer reviews)Our 1920's house has a porcelin tub without a shower head. Our cocker spaniel developed a skin condition and needed to be bathed every three days. I had remembered a slip on shower head like this from when I was a girl. After searching our local Lowe's with no luck, I searched Amazon. I was worried about buying it after all the poor review but for $10 I was willing to give it a try. At first my husband was convinced that it would not fit our spout b/c it is square and the attachment is round. But after looking at the packaging, we went at it from underneath and was able to make it fit great. The water pressure does not prove to be a problem and I haven't had it spray water around the spout yet. I've successfully bathed the dog about 5 times now. I can see where it wouldn't fit if you had the shower pull thing on the tub spout. But if you don't, try this!

(More customer reviews)To give the pros first. As a 5ft hose it is fine. It's flexable and the fittings are solid. The finish is bright and sturdy and I believe it would last. It's better made than many of the 60" hoses near the same price.
Cons. It does stretch, but not nearly to the extent advertised. I get about 10-12" Maximum. That's wrapping it around my back and giving it the effort it would take to do a push up. I would compare it to trying to stretch a heavy duty bike inner tube. Putting that much pressure to stretch it that far on your shower plumbing would probably damage the shower.
If you need a longer than 60" hose, buy one that is longer.

Had the description been included online then what is prominently listed on the back would have advised me not to buy this. I'm sure it'll work fine otherwise; it seems appropriately sturdy. But it knows what kinds of faucets it won't fit yet you don't find out until it's in your hands. Not sure whose fault that is but be warned now. Tubs with pins for turning on the shower will not work with this product, by their own design.
